There were some very messy circumstances, and I'm not sure this doco provides many insights, aside from suggesting that Hutchence was down because he agonised over the prospect of breaking up Yates and Bob Geldof, and thereby hurting their three daughters, which may have reminded Hutchence of the pain of his own parents' split. I don't know about that. But maybe we'll never know, because Yates and Hutchence are no longer with us.

We quickly started looking forward to each new episode that they started having every night during the week. For anyone who is not familiar with House of Anubis, it is about an American teen, Nina, who joins a group of students at a British boarding school where upon arrival one of the students has already been suspected missing. The school is run by a creepy caretaker who keeps a stuffed raven as his pet. The missing student's friend Patricia immediately suspects Nina has something to do with it. Nina meets an old lady who claimed she use to live at the Anubis house and she gives Nina a locket and tells her to guard it and that there is a treasure hidden in the house. Nina confides in a select few of the group of students and they see that the locket has powers and they have to figure out clues to the treasure.

Speaking of the score, fans of the original will no doubt be happy when the same theme from Sha Po Lang is used as Wu Jing prepares to go into battle. Another worthy nod is given to the original with Jing brandishing a bag and police baton (which he gets to use) before facing off against Zhang, which nicely recalls Yen's own walk to meet the enemy in the previous installments finale, which of course came in the form of Jing himself. The same way events converge on each other in the movie, the team behind S. 2 have also converged on each other at just the right time. Cheang was clearly eager to get back into dark and gritty storytelling, Jaa was looking to prove himself as still being a worthy action star with his Hong Kong debut, and Jing finally, after so many failures, proves that he is capable of being a leading man. 2 delivers on all counts – story, characters, and action. In 2015, there are not too many opportunities to say that about a Hong Kong movie, so get out there and enjoy it.
